Wheel Alignment

If your car's steering wheel pulls to one side while you are driving or you notice uneven wear on your tires, your car's wheel alignment may be the cause. Alignment refers to the angle of the wheels on your vehicle. Manufacturers assign alignment specifications for each make, model and year of a vehicle.

For proper alignment, the wheels of your vehicle should be perpendicular to the road. If the wheels are not straight, they may lean outward or inward and exhibit what is called positive or negative camber.

The wheels should also be parallel to each of the other wheels. Misalignment may cause the wheels to point toward or away from each other, which is known as being toe in or toe out.

An automotive technician can inspect the tread wear on your tires and check the angle of your wheels using an alignment machine to determine if an adjustment is required. Proper alignment will extend the life of your tires and keep them from wearing unevenly.
