"There were days I didn't eat except for at YATC," admitted a graduate who was grateful for the free lunch provided as part of the program. Most of the young people referred to YATC are struggling against similar overwhelming challenges and have been affected by poverty, homelessness, crime, abuse, neglect and addiction. "Four of my friends have died this year and others are in jail," said another graduate. "If it wasn't for my mom and YATC, I'd be with them." Here are some facts about the students in our current class:
- 83% have drug use issues
- 80% dropped out of school or were expelled
- 73% have arrest records
- 30% are on probation
- 27% have a history of possession and/or sale of controlled substances
- 20% have children

- Purchases a set of textbooks used in auto technical class or GED preparation
